Bog

Who said life was easy, who said life was fair?
Who gave you the impression that the road ahead was clear?
We’re wading through dark waters, the ground not to be seen
And get stuck in the mud of bad decisions and routine
A wrong turn at the crossroads, some words you can’t take back
A thing that can’t be undone but leaves you with regret
No guiding lights, no beaten tracks just groping in the dark
Through a bog of choices where each step could be your last
But beyond that swamp of desperate monotony
Unroll sunlit plains and a life worth living
So trudge on
Break free
Don’t sink in
Don’t sink in
Don’t sink in
Break free
Don’t sink in
Don’t sink in
Don’t sink in

Groundhog Day
02:49
|
|||
I'm having severe déjà-vus, recently
Like one and the same day's repeating constantly
Life winded up in loops, life winded up and circles
As I grow older and fade away
Outside the window the clouds roll by
As the sun slowly wanders over a disturbing sky
I stuck in limbo, waiting for purgatory
But it won’t come and so I wait
Day in, day out
Sun up, sun down
At night in my apartment I stare off into space
My inner demons being the only visitors
And I am pondering how to break the cycle
Until I fall asleep with static on the TV screen
And everyday seems to be this way
And everyday seems to end this way
Tomorrow will be today will be tomorrow
Will be today will be tomorrow
Wake up!
Wake up!
Wake up!
From this endless sleep

Today when I left the house
I felt warm ashes on my skin
That fell from a blood-red sky
Covering everything in grey
Embers were dancing in the heat
The air so thick, too hot to breath
But all the people on the street
Acted like nothing happened
And so we carry on like we did before
Riding this dead horse with no remorse
Pretending everything's alright
If we just look the other way
Senses so dulled that we can't feel
Compassion or empathy
Completely unaffected
By our fellow men's misery
And if ignorance is bliss
We are blessed with blissfulness
It's like a race to the abyss
And everybody wants to be the first
And so we carry on like we did before
Turning a blind eye and ignore
Watching the world end from the front row
On widescreen and in stereo

Permanence
02:47
|
|||
(We were) Young and wild and reckless
Ready to take on the world
Against all odds, against the grain
In our youthful naivity
Young and wild and reckless
You and me against the world
Without a single thought
Of what may come
But nothing good lasts forever
Nothing good lasts
Forever
We got so careless with our lives
Neglected and taken for granted, pushed to the sidelines
We put off our dreams until tomorrow
But tomorrow has long since become our yesterday
Now we're at a point where we never wanted to be
Both feet firmly on the ground but our heads still in the clouds
Confused and not sure where our next steps will lead us to
But we keep walking, we keep on walking
I’m kicking tin cans through empty streets
Echoes of bygone days ringing in my ears
The stars above are never changing
And I wish I could be one of them (one of them)
My mind is still stuck in those warm summer nights
Yet I feel so cold inside
And I’m afraid this will last
This will last
Forever

Swimming With The Sharks
02:45
|
|||
Dive in
Let the cold rush embrace you
You find yourself in a stormy sea called life
And you barely even know how to swim
No solid ground beneath you
No one to hold your hand
Here in this vast you are alone
Fighting against the tides
And the sharks, they’re coming from the deep
Can you see them beneath your feet?
And the sharks, they’re coming, baring their teeth
They’re waiting for you, for you to bleed
You stirred up the sea in utter commotion
They’re coming closer, they’re coming closer
No place to hide in this wide ocean
They’re coming closer, they’re coming closer
Give in
Let the sea devour you
Your muscles burn, your will is broken
And old wounds are tearing up again
No life boat to pick you up
No saving shore at the horizon
You don’t stand a chance bleeding that hard
When you’re swimming with the sharks

This Is It
02:22
|
|||
Given the fact that my days are being numbered
And the fact that the clocks aren't ticking backwards
I can't see a good reason for spending all of my time
Meeting expectations and falling in line
And the only thing that keeps me on my feet walking
Is this feeling that maybe there is something more
Something big enough to fill this hole in my heart
Something that makes me forget this fake plastic world
And I can't
And I don't
And I won't
Let this feeling die
And I won't wait for some magic to happen
For some Hollywood-dream for me to come true
The here-and-now’s on what I place my bet
It’s not all I ever wanted but it’s all I ever get
This is it
This is it
This is it
And I can't
And I don't
And I won't
Let this feeling die

White Whale
02:40
|
|||
Realization crashes down on you
As the curtain falls
Defeat is stuck in your throat – and you choke
The aching void in your chest
That hollow feeling in your guts
It’s not supposed to end like this
It’s not supposed to end
Forward escape into denial
Because it cannot be
What must not be
And so you threaten the sun
And you taunt the raging sea
Determined to spit your last breath
I know it’s hard to let go
Of something you hold true
And acceptance
Can cost you an effort
But then again what’s the point of holding on
If it only drags you under
You still can change the course, it’s not too late
You’ve got to stop that ship before it sinks
You’ve got to admit your defeat
You’ve got to, you’ve got to, you’ve got to
Admit it
